It is part of April 2012 Monthly Activity Report.
T8.1 iMarine Data e-Infrastructure Enabling-technology Development
CNR Activities
Most of the activities were dedicated to provide tools, expertise, feedback and test cases to fully support the gCube mavenization process. Towards this goal:
- the Software Gateway service has been revised according to T7.1 directions and finalized;
- a new component, SGClient, has been designed, implemented and integrated in the Maven proxy tool. A partial developer guide for these two components has been prepared and it is scheduled to be completed in the next reporting period;
- the Deployer and the Resource Manager services have adapted to comply with the Software Gateway interface and with the new software distribution procedure. Plus, the Deployer service has been also fully mavenized.
The IS-Publisher has been extended to fix two defects reported in ticket 254 and related to WS-Notifications brokered by the IS-Notifier service.
gCF underwent a comprehensive refactoring and upgrade. Major novelties include:
- integration of the previous common-resource library
- new Service XML Schema and related management classes to serialize/deserialize it for handling Maven coordinates within gCube Packages
- deactivation of the security framework (waiting for the new solution to be implemented by T8.2)
According to the gHN direction on the security area, gHN-Manager test-suite and the WS-core container have been revised to comply with it.
Some activities planned in April have been postponed for the benefit of T7.1.

FAO Activities
FAO has developed solutions for the integration of Software Gateway in the new Maven-based infrastructure, and overall for the completion of that integration. It has done so in collaboration with CNR, CERN, and E-IIS. In addition, FAO has contributed to the preparation of a guide about how to develop gCube Maven components.
FAO has prepared the release of common-clients and common-gcore-clients components for enhancing gCube clients experience and ghn-core-runtime to support the new Maven-based development.

T8.3 Workflow Management Facilities
NKUA Activities
NKUA has been working towards the integration of PE2ng, more specifically the provider for the gCube environment which used by PE2ng, with the new Storage Manager service of gCube. Testing is currently in progress and communication has been established with CNR in order for some issues to be clarified and to ensure correct usage.
Another area of focus was the investigation of performance issues related to DAG (Directed Acyclic Graph) JDL jobs reported in ticket #263 and the integration of the requested enhancements. A dynamic test suite for DAG jobs is under development in order to be able to make quick tests to reproduce the results, investigate and locate the issues causing the observed behavior and in parallel integrate the requested functionality.
Finally, NKUA has been working in the compilation of the specifications for Workflow Management Facilities in accordance with the schedule for MS35. The milestone has been achieved and the specifications are available here
