iMarine participantion to the EUDAT 3rd conference: On Wednesday 24 September 2014, Anton Ellenbroek, FAO and iMarine Board secretariat, will take part in the panel "A common vision of Sustainability for research & e-infrastructures" at the 3rd EUDAT Conference: "Bringing data infrastructures to Horizon2020". The session will focus on sustainability (economics and cooperation) aspects of bridging data e-infrastructures and research infrastructures

iMarine is selected as one of the EUDAT Collbaoration Projects. On January 2014 EUDAT (www.eudat.eu) has launched the “Calls for Collaboration Projects”. EUDAT has invited research communities, research projects and individual researchers to make use of its data services that are available at a European scale. EUDAT is offering free resources and expertise to pilot collaboration projects as part of its Collaborative Data Infrastructure where users, community centres and large data centres collaboratively tackle data challenges. iMarine responded to this call identifying the following opportunities:

1. iMarine can leverage on the EUDAT B2STAGE and B2SAFE services to ensure a robust, safe and highly-available replication service and to enhance its distributed computing facilities. The effort needed to perform the exploitation of the two services will be absorbed by iMarine while clearly endorsing the EUDAT services.

2. iMarine can also collaborate with EUDAT on the B2FIND service, linking the iMarine & B2FIND metadata portals and hence providing access to iMarine data according to the limitations of the existing data policies.

Final workshop:

  • Event organisation: agenda updates, speakers contacted
  • Production of the users testimonials videos
  • 36 confimred participants
