It is part of January 2014 Monthly Activity Report.

T10.1 Data Retrieval Facilities

Complete (the Task was active from M1 to M26 i.e. December 2013)

T10.2 Data Manipulation Facilities

Complete (the Task was active from M3 to M26 i.e. December 2013)

T10.3 Data Mining and Visualisation Facilities

CNR Activities

During the month of January, CNR has worked on enhancements for the Statistical Manager in order to support file and resource saving and uploading onto the Workspace instead of onto the Storage Manager #2220. In particular, the internal mechanisms of the SM have been changed in order to support such approach and a new mask for files uploading is going to be released, which will allow users to upload several kinds of files directly onto the WS #2359.

On the experiments side, the BiOnym workflow has been evaluated taking the WoRMS Taxa matching system by Tony Rees as reference #2236. This activity required the generation of a huge amount of benchmark data and several recognition sessions performed on these. The benchmark data have been supplied by Edward Vanden Berghe.

No deviations to report.

  • The files managed by the SM are saved on the infrastructure Workspace.

NKUA Activities

  • Enterprise Search Security:

FullTextIndex along with SearchSystem have been extended to support security identifiers functionality in feed time and query time (#2593).

  • Periodic Update (#2238):

Periodic Update for both FullTextIndex and ForwardIndex has been completed, although for the ForwardIndex the whole index should be recreated due to lack of CouchBase internal tools. The client libraries of these components has been extended as well to expose the new features.

  • SearchSystem and FullTextIndex on turning into RESTful services - platform indepentant in combination with SmartGears.
  • Developement of RESTful SearchSystem has been completed.
  • WorkflowSearchAdaptor and Resource Registry components have been extended to support the new type of services.
  • HTTP data source implementation has been completed (#2489)
  • D10.5 has been authored.

T10.4 Semantic Data Analysis Facilities

FORTH Activities

During this period FORTH worked on:

  • Automating the process of constructing a MarineTLO-based warehouse. Particular focus is given on the aspect of quantifying the connectivity of the warehouse. Related ticket: #2255
  • Enhancing the functionality of XSearch-Portlet . More specifically two new approaches are being implemented that will allow selecting the union or intersection of the search results if users clicks on more than one entities. Related ticket: #2254
  • Evaluating X-Link library, based on (a) a task-based user-study and (b) a case study over a Knowledge Base. Related ticket: #1814
  • Conducting a survey for checking the effectiveness of the exploitation of RDF properties in XSearch. Related ticket: #960

In the context of iMarine, FORTH has developed novel metrics for evaluating the connectivity of a semantic warehouse. The results are currently in use for quantifying the value, and monitoring, the MarineTLO-based warehouse.
