In addition CERN has released the org.gcube.distribution.4.0.0 subsystem in the context of gCube 3.0.0

Other activities on the task were the Full Text Indexing of all OAI-PMH collections in the FARM VOVirtual Organization; and the deployment of the MarineSearch VRE in pre-production.

Lastly CERN and CNR started the process of dismissal of the UMD node ( site suspended to be closed in May)

for T5.2

CNR and NKUA been keeping up and running the provided nodes hosting development, testing and production GHNs.

CNR has moved some nodes the new hardware, to distribute load and improve performance and deployed 10 new nodes in the production infrastructure, 1 new VM to run Cotrix . 1 new development host to test modifications to the i_marine portal.(GHN free)

NKUA planned the upgrade to UMD-3 and installation of Argus and CVMFS and upgraded all non production VMs to Java 7

for T5.3

CERN Released messaging.2.3.0 for gCube 3.0.0 integration

CERN started integration of the new Resource Accounting library, a Mapper component was developed in order to retrieve data from the old backend and publish them with the new library and started implementation of a new module for Social Portal accounting

For Virtual Research Environments Operation:

  • The MarineSearch VRE has been deployed in pre-production;
  • The previously deployed Virtual Research Environments have been maintained in operation;

For resources and tools provision:

  • VME-DB development continued, e.g. Reports Store Gateway write operation added;
  • Species Name Reconciliation (Bionym) development continued, e.g. an extensive study of the performance was conducted;
  • SmartFish integration continued, e.g. JavaScript has been improved;
  • FAO R-based intersection engine deployed as WPS process;
  • IRD has developed an R Library to read data from a number of data sources including CSV and WFS, and integrated this library in their Indicators;

For common interfaces and tools:

  • Report Manager Portlet has been enhanced, e.g. added a dialog widget to interact with Report Store Gateway;
  • A lot of Tabular Data Widgets have been developed, e.g. Data Column Widget, Template Widget;
  • A new widget supporting File Upload Progress Bar has been developed;
  • Share Updates portlet has been reinforced with file publishing facilities;
  • Home Library has been reinforced, namely ACLs, Trash folder, and VRE folder have been added;

WP9: Data Management Facilities Development

WP Leader: CNR - Participants: NKUA, CERN, TERRADUE, FAO

The activities in this month regarded only the T9.3.

In T9.3:

CNR implemented pluggable operations for the Tabular Data Manager. These include Replace, Filtering, Grouping and Remove operations. Furthermore, they worked on the expressions validation framework, where they defined placeholders for columns, data types management and the 'substring' operator.

No deviations to report.

WP10: Data Consumption Facilities Development

WP Leader: NKUA - Participants: CNR, FORTH, TERRADUE, FAO

FullTextIndex along with SearchSystem have been extended to support security identifiers functionality in feed time and query time. Moreover, SearchSystem and FullTextIndex are being transformed into RESTful services in combination with SmartGears, making them platform independant. The development of RESTful SearchSystem has been completed. WorkflowSearchAdaptor and Resource Registry components have been extended to support those new type of services. Also, periodic update for both FullTextIndex and ForwardIndex has been completed, although for the ForwardIndex the whole index should be recreated due to lack of CouchBase internal tools. In the context of gCube Data Transformation Service, the HTTP data source implementation has been completed. At last MS46 has been authored and D10.5 has been delivered.

In T10.3, Statistical Manager is being enhanced in order to support file and resource saving and uploading onto the Workspace instead of Storage Manager. On the experiments side, the BiOnym workflow has been evaluated taking the WoRMS Taxa matching system as reference that requires the generation of a huge amount of benchmark data and several recognition sessions performed on these.

In T10.4, the process of constructing a MarineTLO-based warehouse is being automated. Particular focus was also given on the aspect of quantifying the connectivity of the warehouse. XSearch-Portlet functionality is being enhanced, as two new approaches are being implemented that will allow selecting the union or intersection of the search results if users clicks on more than one entities. X-Link library was evaluated based on (a) a task-based user-study and (b) a case study over a Knowledge Base. At last, a survey is being conducted for checking the effectiveness of the exploitation of RDF properties in XSearch.

  • files managed by the SM are saved on the infrastructure Workspace
  • D10.5 has been delivered
  • MS46 has been authored
  • Novel metrics for evaluating the connectivity of a semantic warehouse. A publication that acknowledges the support of iMarine and has been accepted for publication is the following:
    • Y. Tzitzikas, N. Minadakis, Y. Marketakis, P. Fafalios, C. Alloca, and M. Mountantonakis. Quantifying the Connectivity of a Semantic Warehouse. In procs of the 4th International Workshop on Linked Web Data Management (LWDM 2014) 2014.

WP11: Data e-Infrastructures Integration and Interoperability Facilities Development

WP Leader: NKUA - Participants: CNR, CERN, E-IIS, FORTH, TERRADUE, FAO

During January, in T11.2, effort was spent on making FullTextIndex and Search System service platform independent and expose RESTful API. In this context a set of libraries (called Resource Aware Service) has been developed in order manage the resources in the RESTful services and assist the client library development for these services. Also, new version of the data-transfer components has been developed, which use an enhanced version of the Storage Management portlet as well as a new version of the Data Nucleus library. Moreover, D9.3 and M40 have been reviewed Finally, the implementation of WFS Utils for the OWC4J has continued, allowing integration into GISViewer.

In T11.3, effort was spent on finalizing the specification of the XSearch APIs. Also, the implementation of these APIs has started.

None
