T3.3 Harmonisation of Metadata, Semantics and Technologies

FAO Activities

Erik: Plans 4 days on Cotrix Architecture

Fabio F: Plans 2-3 weeks to start bringing mapping facilities to Cotrix and iMarine/ICIS

  • Redesign and implementation of the matching component aimed at exposing a domain-independent interface to clients (tagline: "general purpose matching component for the identification of relationships between concepts and entities") . Expected completion will require 10 to 15 days. CNR will be informed to review the results.
  • Design and implement a standalone library that will include the core functionalities of the matching component and a distributed-computation model that will not necessarily require a supporting distributed infrastructure. Expected completion will require 5 to 7 days.
  • Support E. Balestri (and other staff) in the sanitization process of species names. The goal is to provide an interface to upload a XLS file with species names as originally reported by external sources and propose alternatives (identified by the matching component) whenever a species name is not found in the reference domain. It will support ASFIS as main reference domain with the aim of validation the service before a similar VRE can be proposed. Expected completion will require 5 days. (The VRE would add facilities on top of this)
  • Continue with ESS meetings (a second round is expected to be scheduled next week). This time it will be a technical meeting that will mainly focus on identifying how Cotrix can address Fenix needs and eventually evaluate the proposal for a standalone matching library (see point 2) against a set of remote services that their infrastructure will consume (see point 1)

Emmanuel (4.25 days):

  • GIS data sharing;
  • Intersection engine;
  • SPREAD

Claudio (17 days)

  • Linked Data Publication Workflows proposal writing
  • Tcom preparation and attendace remotely
  • Implementation of the publication workflow for ASFIS codelist

Fabio / Federico

  • Cotrix
