This WP10 Activity Report described the activities performed in Month 14 by Beneficiary and Task.

It is part of Monthly Activity Report.

T10.1 Data Retrieval Facilities

NKUA Activities

The activities of NKUA included (i) the integration of the Fulltext Index with ElasticSearch according to the ticket #896 (ii) minor bug fixing in Resource Registry.

Bug fixes according to the following tickets:

  • Resource Registry related : #522

None

The following components have been released in gCube 2.12:

  • ResourceRegistry 1-3-3
  • ResourceRegistry_NODEPS 1-3-3
  • RRModel 1-4-0
  • RRGCubeBridge 1-4-0

T10.2 Data Manipulation Facilities

NKUA Activities

During the month of December, Data Transformation Service has been enhanced with useful additions. DTS has been developed in such a way to be easily extendable with new transformation programs. Gnuplot and Graphviz visualisation libraries have been integrated and tested (#1050). Both libraries were wrapped as transformation programs and published on IS as generic resources.

The following transformation programs have been created:

  • GnuplotWrapperTP
  • GraphvizWrapperTP

CNR Activities

  • GIS Publisher Service implementation
    • Implemented a pluggable service to publish GIS data into Geoserver/Geonetwork/Thredds
    • Related ticket : #597

T10.3 Data Mining and Visualisation Facilities

CNR Activities

CNR worked principally on enhancements about the Statistical Manager, associated data mining libraries and web portlet. In particular, complex outputs were managed allowing the implementation of algorithms which could output tables, images and files at the same time #28 #862. On the other side occurrence algebraic operations were added, in order to support the subtraction between two occurrence sets #825. Enhancements also regarded the run of the occurrence points operations in distributed fashion.

Bug fixing was performed, at the same time, on the Statistical Manager and the Ecological Engine library #846. CNR supported NKUA in the adaptation of PE2NG to Niche Modeling experiments #34. We begun the implementation of methods for Time Series analysis with digital signal processing procedures #1045.

No deviations to report.

  • Management of complex output by the Algorithms
  • Occurrence Points Subtraction facility
  • Occurrence Points calculations on D4Science

NKUA Activities

NKUA has started working on the visualisation this month (#1049). There has been some work already done on this field by other partners. NKUA intends to extend the existing work by adding the time parameter, thus expanding visualisations to include animation or depictions of species relocations over periods of time.

Some sample visualisations have been created, falling into following three categories based on the data they visualise:

  • geospatial (lon,lat,time)
  • non-geospatial (e.g. species population)
  • data resulting from the processing of the above (e.g. species relocations)

Furthermore, some useful additions have been been made on Data Transformation Service (#1050). Gnuplot and Graphviz visualisation libraries have both been integrated with DTS and tested. Both libraries are widely spread and used for data representation. The former is mostly used to generate two and three dimensional plots of functions and data, while the latter is used for graph visualisation.

T10.4 Semantic Data Analysis Facilities

FORTH Activities

During M13 FORTH worked on the exploitation of IS that will aid XSearch portlet to dynamically discover the location of XSearch-Service (#780). For this reason the XSearch-Service should first be uploaded using the Software Upload Wizard. The component has been uploaded successfully but we encountered an error during its deployment (#977). The activites therefore has been blocked until a solution to this problem will be found. Furthermore FORTH worked on transforming XSearchPortlet to a maven component. FORTH followed the instructions found at [1].
