This WP11 Activity Report described the activities performed in July 2012 by Beneficiary and Task.

It is part of July Monthly Activity Report.

T11.1 Application Programming Interfaces Framework Definition

NKUA Activities

The Access Management utility of the HTTP framework was extended to support anonymous access based on the server configuration, at deployment time, which binds the installed web application to a specific scope. In those cases, there is no requirement for scope awareness client side. This mechanism could be used within the HTTP URIs resolution for accessing gCube content across infrastructure scopes.

An early discussion has started with FAO and CNR, on the adoption of web friendly HTTP URIs to disseminate all content from within our infrastructure. The main facets under investigation are related to the adoption of HTTP Front End framework, the attachement of a contextual prefix to URI fragments produced by service-specific components and the deployment of the dedicated webservers as part of the infrastructure.

- Extension of Access Management utility for configuring web applications bound to specific infrastructure scope, for Open Access.

E-IIS Activities

The implementation of the client API has been started: in particular the CredentialManager which is responsible to manage host certificate. ENG is also performing some tests on Open Source API possible candidate to be the client API for ID-Federation Service Provider. The goal of this activity is the integration of the Enhanced Client or Proxy Profile and the Attribute Authority of Shibboleth in gCube.

T11.2 Data Management APIs

FAO Activities

FAO has been refactoring the tree-manager-library towards compliance with the CL framework, as per TCOM plans. The refactoring will yield version 2.0.0 of the library, and will incorporate recent changes to the underlying gRS2 resultset, which serve as an indirect dependency of the library.

CNR Activities

CNR has completed the development of the spd-client-library compliant with the CL framework for the species product discovery service, as planned in the TCOM.

CERN Activities

Data Transfer Agent Library has been enhanced with Async delegates. Transfer Outcomes has been extended to include transfer time information.

Terradue Activities

Minor bugs was fixed and improvements performed to the WPS-hadoop repository on gCube svn, going hand to hand with internal developments.

T11.3 Data Consumption APIs

NKUA Activities

NKUA implemented the OAI-ORE provider for gCube. The component is part of the HTTP Front End layer of the Integration and Interoperability Framework and offers an OAI-ORE interface for disseminating gCube documents and collections as OAI-ORE Resource Maps. The details of the implementation are described here: https://gcube.wiki.gcube-system.org/gcube/index.php/HTTP_Front_End:_OAI-ORE_Implementation

FORTH Activities

FORTH created the XSearch service. The aim of the service is to aid the functionality of the XSearch portlet. The service works as follows: (a) it receives a set of gCube results, (b) performs text entity mining and clustering on them and (c) returns to the user the identified categorized entities and the clusters that have been found. The results are “sent” to the XSearch service using the gRS2. The service is external, yet complementary, to the gCube infrastructure. It is currently hosted in FORTH machines and has been implemented according to the REST principles. However we’re planning to include it in the infrastructure and register it automatically through the IS.
